With the development of economy and society, the quality of material life of the elderly has been well guaranteed and improved, and the number of elderly people with economic self-protection ability is increasing. However, the quality of mental life of the elderly has not increased simultaneously with the improvement of material living standards.Under the background of healthy aging and active aging, the mental health problems of the elderly have received more and more attention, and the issue of emotional support has received more and more attention. At the same time, the single-dimensional measurement indicators of happiness in the field of academic research began to expand into multiple dimensions,in order to comprehensively examine the individual's living conditions.Subjective well-being is a theoretical system that comprehensively reflects individual quality of life and mental health, and is widely used by researchers. On the basis of theoretical research about emotional support and subjective well-being at home and abroad, relying on the questionnaires and data of Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey, the paper systematically analyzes the impact of emotional support on the subjective well-being of the elderly.Firstly, the literature research method is used to sort out the related theories and research status of emotional support and subjective well-being;Secondly,based on theoretical research, the factor analysis method is used to define and quantify the specific connotation of emotional support, which is subdivided into family connection, emotional comfort and personality respect; Then, using multiple regression analysis, the paper studies the effects of emotional support and its specific content and “emotional self-support” on the subjective well-being of the elderly; Finally, the differences in the effects of emotional support on the elderly with different economic status were further studied, and the impact of community services on the subjective well-being of the elderly was examined. The study found that emotional support can significantly improve the subjective well-being of the elderly, and the influence of emotional comfort on the quality of life of the elderly is greater.Personality respect has a greater impact on the mental health of the elderly, and the effect of family connection is not significant;Emotional self-support and emotional support are complementary and jointly promote the improvement of subjective well-being of the elderly, and emotional self-support has a more significant effect on the negative emotions of the elderly; The higher the economic status of the elderly, the greater the impact of emotional support on their quality of life, and the smaller the impact on their mental health;Community services for elderly can significantly improve the quality of life and positive emotions of the elderly, while it has no significant impact on the negative emotions of the elderly. On the basis of summarizing the above research results, the paper puts forward decision-making suggestions on alleviating the contradiction between the supply and demand of emotional support for the Chinese elderly and improving their subjective well-being from the four levels of individuals, families, society and the state,in order to better protect the well-being of the elderly, and to provide assistance for the healthy aging and active aging in China.
