The final mathematical problems in the senior high school entrance examination often play a very important role in the examination paper.They have a good degree of differentiation and they can help to select gifted students.Students find it is difficult to learn the final mathematical problems and teachers also think that it is a big obsession in the teaching practice.Cognitive load theory is a theoretical framework for instructional design,it focuses on the function and relationship between working memory and long-term memory,which is influential to complex learning and problem solving.In order to find out the effective teaching strategy of the final mathematical problems,based on the cognitive load theory,the researcher investigated the following three research questions:(1)What is the current situation of the middle school students' learning of the final mathematical problems?(2)What is the current situation of the middle school teachers' teaching of the final mathematical problems?(3)How to effectively carry on the teaching of the final mathematical problems?This study adopted the methods of theoretical research,questionnaire investigation and classroom observation.Firstly,the paper makes a literature review on the theory of cognitive load and the teaching of the final mathematical problems.Then,the researcher analyzed the students' answers of the final mathematical problems in the monthly examination.On this basis,we designed a questionrnaire and made a survey among the ninth grade students to see how they get along with their study.After that,we analyzed the video-case of teaching the final mathematical problems.Finally,we put forward some strategies of effective teaching,whieh is on the basis of the cognitive load theory:(1)Consolidating the foundation combine the special subject training.(2)The integration of diversified teaching methods into the classroom.(3)Pay attention to the cultivation of students' study habits.(4)Pay attention to the cultivation of self-confidence in solving the final mathematical problems.In the end,we made an instructional design about the final mathematical problems.
