Security engineering is very important for campus.As an important part of security engineering,more and more attention has been paid on video surveillance system by campus.With the continuous development of multimedia technology and network technology,video surveillance system in campus has been developed in intelligence and networking.Due to the video monitoring data is very large,the information that the user really needs is only a small part,and only a certain events really need to be monitored.How to obtain valuable information from the massive data and how to transform the visual interpretation to au tomatic machine interpretation are new research directions for video surveillance technology.With the applications of target detection and tracking algorithms,video surveillance is changed from static and post-incident forensics to dynamic,real-time alarm.Therefore,a campus video surveillance system has been designed and developed according to the user's the actual situation and demand as follow:Firstly,to constructed the overall framework of security monitoring and alarm system.Through the analysis of the traditional video surveillance system,finding the existing problems,and eventually to form a relatively mature campus security monitoring and alarm system framework.Secondly,Target detection algorithm based on Improved Gaussian Mixture Model has been studied in the alarm module of the campus video surveillance system.The background subtraction method has used to detect moving objects,reconstruction of the background image based on Improved Gaussian Mixture Model,and the recognition accuracy has been improved effectively.Surveillance equipment only changed the storage of video data and no active alarm in the past,Now,the campus video surveillance system could provide alarm information in real-time for operator on duty,the campus security ability has been improved effectively.Thirdly,the design and development of the system.At first,the design goal of the system is analyzed,the design direction is defined,and the principle of system design is analyzed.Then,the function module design of the system is given.The system has five modules,including that preview module,PTZ control module,playback module,alarm module,system function settings module and so on.The design and development of campus monitoring and alarm system has achieved the preservation of monitoring video data and the alarm of abnormal events.Through this system,we can view the video surveillance data of the school,control the campus PTZ,camera and other front-end devices and monitor the various areas of the campus in time.The design and development of the campus video surveillance system can be efficiency,save the construction cost and have better practical value.At the same time,it has certain theoretical value for the research of moving object detection problem.
