To fully study a discipline,its history of development is indispensable.Knowledge is always precipitated in the history of Subject development.Only through combing and excavating the history of discipline development can we discover the value of knowledge,refine the universality of knowledge,form a complete discipline system,and grasp the law of discipline development.The development history of statistics is an important part of the study of statistics discipline.By systematically studying and analyzing the development history of statistics ideal at home and abroad and the current situation of statistical development,deeply studying and summarizing the development disciplines,trends and influencing factors of the statistics will help to use statistical methods to promote statistical theory research more rationally and extensively,guide the future development of statistics and create a suitable environment for the development of statistics to promote statistical development.In order to analyze the future development trend of statistics,this article studies the development history and current situation of statistics by synthetically using historical data analysis method,knowledge map method,descriptive statistics method and comparative reasearch method.Firstly,this article studies the development history of chinese and western statistical ideal by using the historical data analysis method.The development history of western statistical thoughts was divided into three periods: the classical statistics period,the modern statistics period and the contemporary statistics period.The development history of Chinese statistics was divided into four periods: the statistics period before the end of the Qing Dynasty,the statistics period of the late Qing Dynasty,the statistics period of the Republic of China,and the statistics period of the New China period.Then the article studies the development of the current situation and trend by using the descriptive statistics method and bibliometric method.The study found that statistics is widely used in computational sciences,physics,mathematics,engineering and so on in foreign countries,and widely used in the fieldsof economy,finance,education,engineering,and sustainable development of environmental resources in China.At the same time,it also summarizes that there are three major trends in statistics: the trend towards comprehensive and cross-cutting development;the trend from traditional statistics to computational statistics;the trend to big data statistics development.In summary,the history of statistical development shows that the development of statistics is guided by the evolution of data characteristics,driven by scientific advances such as mathematics and computer science,and continuous innovation in theory and methods.
