College counselors are an important part of the faculty and management team of colleges and universities.As the backbone to carry out the ideological and political education,they play the role of organizers,implementer and supervisors of daily ideological and political education.As an important component of higher education,private colleges play a significant role in the process of talent cultivation.Private college counselors are the main force of the ideological and political education in private colleges and universities,which provide an important guarantee for the stability,reform and sustainable development of private colleges and universities.Job satisfaction is an organizational behavior factor,which affects employee work behavior and human resource management.The investigation of private college counselors' job satisfaction for the purpose of understanding the present basic situation of job satisfaction of private college counselors,finding the various influencing factors from the analysis results,and putting forward corresponding countermeasures to stimulate their work enthusiasm,and promote the private colleges and universities' development persistently and healthily.This paper analyzes some private colleges' counselors in Wuhan through literature research,questionnaire and personal interviews,and under the guidance of Marx's theory of human development,Herzberg's two factor theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs.An empirical study of 217 full-time counselors from four private colleges and universities in Wuhan was carried out by using the short-term Minnesota job satisfaction scale compiled by relevant scholars.The author also conducted interviews with the head of student wok ministry,the secretaries/deputy secretaries of the department and the counselors.The data of the survey were sorted out,and analyzed by means of descriptive statistical analysis and variance analysis of SPSS19.0 software to find as follows: The overall score of private college counselors' job satisfaction is generally at medium level.The aspect with the most satisfaction is colleague relations,and the relationship between the superior and the subordinate.The aspect with the least satisfaction is team spirit,remuneration and promotion;There is a great difference in different demographic variables among private college counselors' job satisfaction.Gender,age,educational background,position,and salary are five demographic variables with significant differences in different level among private college counselors.Years of working and marital status have no significant difference,however they have important impact on them;Gender,age,and salary have significant difference for the intrinsic satisfaction.Educational background,position,and salary have significant difference for the extrinsic satisfaction.Age and salary have significant difference for the overall satisfaction.The strategies to improve the private college counselors' job satisfaction are as follows: to enhance social recognition and evaluation,to optimize school management and incentives,to strengthen family guidance and assistance,and to improve personal competence and ability.
