Prose is a shining pearl in the history of Chinese literature.From the New Culture Movement till now,modern and contemporary prose are both beautiful in form and rich in content.They have a relatively large proportion in high-school Chinese textbooks as well as Chinese College Entrance Examination and play a significant role in high-school students’ physical and mental health.However,in current high-school modern and contemporary prose teaching,there are still some problems in the aspects of teachers and students,which is contrary to the concept advocated in New Curriculum Standard for Ordinary High School Chinese.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore the teaching of modern and contemporary prose in high-school Chinese.The thesis is divided into two parts: the introduction and the main body.The introduction explores the research background,research significance,research results,research contents and research methods.The main body consists of four parts.The first part introduces the summary of modern and contemporary prose,namely the definition of prose and characteristics of modern and contemporary prose.The second part clarifies the status and significance of modern and contemporary prose in high school,including the distribution of modern and contemporary prose in high-school textbooks of the People’s Education Press,the proportion of scores in Chinese College Entrance Examination,and the significance to high-school students.The third part analyzes the current teaching situation of modern and contemporary prose in high school.Through statistical arrangement of the results of questionnaires for teachers and students,the thesis concludes the problems existing in modern and contemporary prose teaching in high school.The fourth part is based on the current teaching situation,including the following six teaching strategies: “using the idea of??curriculum standards,improving teachers’ professional qualities,” “payingattention to reading,giving guidance,” “tasting language,restoring the beauty of the article,” “emotional awareness,arousing students’ initiative," " combining reading andwriting,promoting the use of language "multiple evaluation,enrich the teaching dimension of teachers and students",trying to provide theoretical guidance for modern and contemporary prose teaching in high school,thereby improving teaching efficiency.
