The geometrical ability,an essential element of students’ mathematical ability,plays an indispensable part in the whole procedure of mathematics learning.However,the majority of students do well in calculation and algorithm under the traditional education,but fear learning geometric and even cultivating the ability of geometry.The writer is well-informed of the exploration towards geometrical learning and the cultivation of geometrical ability by former scholars through studying a lot of literatures.There are mainly three elements:eaching material,teachers and students.As far as research methods,most researchers probe into the cultivation of an ability from the perspective of methodology.On the basis of former investigation,this paper attempts to explore the proportion of geometrical ability in every knowledge modules and enable students to have a basic and general understanding of planimetry knowledge and geometrical ability in middle school by infiltrating the geometrical ability development into every knowledge modules.Besides,the writer has summarized the middle school students’ request towards geometrical ability and the status quo which affects middle school students’ ability in learning geometrical by analyzing the teaching materials(Beijing Normal University version),senior high school entrance examination standard in Yunnan province and math test paper during lately three years in Yunnan.What’s more,the writer has investigated and analyzed the scores of each section of 278 students of Grade Three who have taken part in the monthly examination.And the writer has drawn the conclusion that the secondary school students have little cognition of geometrical ability and even feel confused about the geometrical learning.The writer is attempting to develop students’ geometrical ability from the aspect of triangular congruent module and cultivate students’ geometrical reading ability from the aspect of solving a right triangle module and improve students’generalization ability from the aspect of special quadrilateral proof module.Moreover,students’ geometry migration ability will be improved from the aspect of the calculation of circles and circles module and geometrical application ability will be improved from the aspect of the axial problem associated with a quadratic function.The last but not the least,the writer is also trying to develop the ability of geometry application from the aspect of quadratic function.This paper has drawn the conclusion that geometrical ability exists in every plane geometry module in junior high school and the cultivation of geometrical ability is progressive and helical.Students will be informed of geometrical ability and know more about the close link between each geometrical ability by studying the teaching examples.Thus,students’ geometrical ability will be inevitably improved.All in all,this paper has provided a foundation for cultivating students’ geometrical ability.
