Negative emotional regulation refers to the individual’s ability to respond to negative emotions(anger,jealousy,sadness,fear,etc.)in a socially accepted manner in order to adapt quickly and effectively to social situations and to maintain good interpersonal relationships Communication.At the same time,some studies have pointed out that middle class is the critical period for the development of emotional regulation in young children.Therefore,it is very necessary for teachers to use pedagogical activities to cultivate children’s emotional development.Is it a viable way to guide young children’s cognition and adjust their emotions through vivid picture book stories?What is the effect of the picture book teaching activities on the development of the negative emotion regulation in children?These questions prompted the study.In this study,a total of 60 children aged from 4 to 5 years old in two middle classes of a public kindergarten in Tianjin were enrolled in this study.The experimental group and control group were randomly assigned to conduct the 8 weeks negative emotionally themed picture book teaching activities.The results of this study showed that:after 8 weeks of instructional teaching on picture books,the level of emotion regulation in children in experimental group increased significantly compared with that of control group,which proves that the theme teaching of picture book can effectively promote the development of negative emotion regulation in young children.This study suggests that teachers and kindergartens should develop the school-based curriculum of emotion-themed picture book teaching and their cooperation in homeland should shoulder the responsibility of cultivating children’s emotional regulation.In addition,this study also proposed to strengthen the research on the influence of the theme teaching of picture books on the emotional regulation of children. |
