The relationship between urban scale and urban labor productivity is a theoretical and realistic problem which has attracted much attention in the process of regional economic development. On the basis of combing the relevant literature at home and abroad, this paper makes a preliminary analysis on the relationship between urban scale and urban labor productivity. In theoretical analysis, from the three aspects of agglomeration effect, scale effect and crowding effect, the influence of urban scale expansion on urban labor productivity is analyzed in detail. The empirical research, this paper selects the panel data of 2003-2015 years of China City 267 City, based on the spatial correlation of the city’s labor productivity test, makes an empirical test on the influence of city scale city labor productivity using spatial econometric model, and multiple sets of robustness tests, according to the research results and put forward reasonable suggestions. The empirical results show that:(1)There is a significant spatial autocorrelation between urban labor productivity in China, and the spillover effect of urban labor productivity has a positive effect on urban labor productivity in neighboring areas.(2)The effect of city scale on City labor productivity is the superposition of the agglomeration effect, scale effect and crowding their influence in the city, the scale of less than a certain value, the city labor productivity and gradually expand with the expansion of the city, once over the value after the city labor productivity will decrease with the expansion of the city. Therefore,in order to promote the healthy development of Chinese cities, all regions should not only enhance cross regional economic cooperation, but also control the scale of cities and reduce the negative effects brought by the expansion of urban scale,so as to promote the long-term development of China’s urban economy. |
