On The Factors And Strategies Affecting The Transformation Of Local Undergraduate Universities Into Application-oriented Technology Institutions Of Higher Education

With the adjustment and upgrading of economic structure,there is an urgent demand for high-level applicable,technical and skilled talents in the development of local industry,while the traditional talents cultivation mode and major setup of local undergraduate universities that tend to produce theoretical and academic graduates have been unable to meet the job requirements under economic and social development,causing that the employment rate has decreased year by year.Therefore,the transformation and development of local undergraduate universities is a necessity not only for economic restructuring and upgrading,but also for their own survival and growth.In order to study the status quo,existing problems and influencing factors of transformation of local undergraduate universities into application-oriented technology institutions of higher education,thereby to find out solutions to the problems and provide practical basis and theoretical support for local undergraduate universities in transformation,in this thesis,the author adopts such research methods as literature,interviews and questionnaires,etc.to carry out discussions from theory to practice and from practice back to theory.Through referring to the literature on the transformation of local undergraduate universities become application-oriented technology institutions of higher education,the author explores and studies the research status quo and analyzes the significance of transformation of local undergraduate universities into application-oriented technology institutions of higher education;with the transformation pilot Xuchang University as a selected case,the author carries out a large number of interviews and questionnaires,conducts tracking research,summarizes the successful experience of Xuchang University in transforming into application-oriented technology institutions of higher education,and learns the realistic difficulties in the transformation and development of the selected university.Based on this,through paying visits to local undergraduateuniversities in transformation in Henan province,this author analyzes and summarizes the factors that affect the transformation of local undergraduate universities into application-oriented technology institutions of higher education,and thereby carries out exploration into the strategies for the transformation and development.The study results show that,the transformation of local undergraduate universities into application-oriented technology institutions of higher education not only conforms to national policies and meets the needs of economic and social development,but also is an internal driving force for innovation & development and connotation improvement of local undergraduate universities.However,there are still problems such as insufficient funds,lack of "dual-qualified" teachers,and weak practice links in the curriculum system construction,etc.In this term,local undergraduate universities should change their ideological concepts under the support of state policies,explore courageously on the government-business-university-research integrated education mode and production-education merged talent cultivation mode,reform the curriculum system and build a team of dual-qualified teachers and cultivate the innovative and entrepreneurship ability of students.Meanwhile,local undergraduate universities should strengthen exchanges and cooperation with advanced schools in transformation,strengthen cooperation with well-known domestic universities and international educational institutions,so as to enhance school-running quality and expand their social awareness and influence.In this thesis,the author carries out case studies of local universities in transformation,and sorts out the general principles through paying visits to similar institutions in transformation,so as to provide scientific basis for formulation of policies by the State and practical examples for undergraduate universities in transformation.
