Teachers are the foundation for all important programs of education.With the rapid development and deep reform of education,primary and junior high school teachers need to learn continuously,so as to enhance their professional quality and adapt to the development of school education.Teachers' engagement in learning is an important factor affecting the learning effect.In addition,in a certain social relationship,teachers' engagement in learning is influenced by social support.Based on the research background of teachers' learning,the study focuses on the subject of teachers' engagement in learning,and exploring the relationship between teachers' engagement in learning and social support.Firstly,a questionnaire has been compiled and revised based on the literature review and the interview.Secondly,300 teachers from five schools in primary and junior high schools in M district,Shanghai,participated in the survey.Based on the analysis of teachers' engagement in learning,social support and their correlation,major findings are concluded below:1.Teachers' engagement in learning is generally at a relatively high level.The level of emotional engagement is higher than that of behavioral engagenemt.2.There are some differences in demographic variables of teachers' engagement in larning: in terms of engagement in learning,the average scores of school leaders and teachers are significantly higher than that of middle managers;in the dimension of emotional engagement,the average score of female teachers is significantly higher than that of male teachers;in the dimension of behavioral engagement,the average scores of school leaders and teachers are significantly higher than that of middle managers.3.The social support of primary and junior high school teachers is at a relatively high level.In the dimension of colleague support,both information support and emotional support are at high level;in terms of school leader support,emotionalsupport is at a high level,but time and financial support is less;in the dimension of family support,economic support has the highest score,the level of active concern is low.4.There are some differences in demographic variables of social support of teachers: in the dimension of social support,teachers get the highest support within 5years of working time;in the dimension of colleagues' support,the average scores of teachers from grade one,two,three,four and seven are significantly higher than teachers in grade nine;in the dimension of family support,the teachers get the highest support within 5 years of working time and the average scores of the school leaders and the teachers are significantly higher than that of head teachers.5.The three dimensions of social support have significant positive correlation with emotional engagement and behavioral engagement of primary and junior high school teachers.Coworker support and family support are significant predictors of emotional and behavioral engagement,and colleagues' support has the greatest impact on teachers' engagement in learning.Finally,from the three dimensions of social support,colleague support,school leaders support and family support,some suggestions are put forward.Colleagues should strengthen communication,create good learning atmosphere,learn from each other,and create learning community.The school leaders should set up the concept of lifelong learning,lead the teachers' learning,integrate learning resources based on teachers' needs,improve the learning system and guarantee teachers' learning.Family members should enhance their understanding of teachers,encourage teachers to learn,communicate frequently and create learning conditions for teachers.
