Expository is a language ability that emphasizes the use of personal knowledge and language for clear,organized expression.Since the 1970 s and 1980 s,scholars both at home and abroad from linguistics,discourse analysis,as well as other interdisciplinary subjects related to linguistics attempt to explore the individual ability of expository expression and to summarize the law of children's expository discourse development.This study focuses on a new problem of early childhood language ability: the language level and specific development law of children's expository.A total of 100 children between 4 and 6 years old were surveyed in four kindergartens in Shanghai,surrounded by two dimensions of semantic and grammar.Detailed understanding of children's performance in vocabulary and syntax of the language at the same time,A number of indicators were used to investigate the development of language in terms of complexity and correctness in children aged 4 to 6,which reveal the development of the preschool children's expository language.The study finds that the expository language of preschoolers shows the gradual development in complexity.The number of different words in children's expository,specifically,presents a obvious linear growth trend,and the coverage of compound words is also increasing.This study also finds that the gradual development in language accuracy.As the growth of the age,the rates of four types of lexical errors and five types of syntactic errors occurring are constantly decreases.And this funding reversely explain the development of expository language accuracy from the Angle of errors.Preschool children's expository language also presents gradually developing trend in content accuracy: along with the growth of the age,the total ESS's scores are increasing,as well as each element of ESS performs better and better.Based on these above findings,the author puts forward three main education suggestions: 1)teachers should actively carry out early reading activities,and encourage children's learning inthe process of reading and discussion and master the language expression by using rich vocabularies and complex sentences;2)should provide high-quality language input for children,correct and standardize the language expression of children,gradually promote the accuracy of children's expository language;3)should flexibly use kinds of illustrations to help children construct the structural framework of expository,guide and gradually realize the complete and accurate expression of children in the expository content.
