The Ministry of Education officially promulgated the Biology Curriculum Standards in General Senior Middle Schools(2017 edition),which marked the end of the practical exploration stage of biology curriculum in senior high school in China and it has entered a new stage of development.The Curriculum Standard of 2017 emphasizes that the education goal of biology is to cultivate students' biological core qualities,which includes four dimensions: life concept,scientific thinking,scientific inquiry and social responsibility.Scientific thinking refers to the students' habit and ability to understand things and solve problems according to certain thinking mode on the basis of facts and evidence,including one,two,three and four levels from low to high.It is the important connotation of scientific inquiry,the basic condition of life concept and social responsibility,so scientific thinking is the basis of developing biological core qualities.Therefore,we should pay special attention to the development of students' scientific thinking in high school biology teaching.Model construction teaching is one of the methods to promote the development of students' scientific thinking.In the activity of constructing model,students can solve problems by observing,analyzing,inducting and generalizing,which is beneficial to the cultivation of students' scientific thinking.At the same time,the model construction teaching can help students to understand the concept of biology correctly and lay the foundation for thinking process such as biological judgment and reasoning.However,it seems that most of the research on developing students' scientific thinking by using model construction teaching is still in the theoretical stage until present time.There are a few practical studies and lack of teaching evaluation,and there is no objective evaluation on the effect of the model construction teaching to develop the students' scientific thinking.Therefore,this study was based on the basis of predecessor's studies,to test the effectiveness of model construction teaching to promote the development of students' scientific thinking,and to carry out model construction teaching to students at different class,and to explore the development of their scientific thinking.In this study,two chapters of "basic structure of cells" and "material input and output of cells" in "molecules and cells",were taken as the research contents.Teaching practice was carried out in rocket class,key class and general class(1 each)in the first grade of Xichang No.1 Middle School.Research tools were 2 sets of "ScientificThinking Test"(the contents were different,but the quantity,the type and the difficulty of the questions were same)to carry out before and after tests.Through the analysis the test results showed that: 1)Overall,the model construction teaching could indeed promote the development of students' scientific thinking,especially the third and fourth levels of scientific thinking.2)The model construction teaching could promote the development of students' scientific thinking in different class,it had the most effect in the general class,followed by the key class,and finally the rocket class.3)The model construction teaching developed different scientific thinking levels in different class:The third level of scientific thinking of rocket class students was developed;the third and fourth levels of scientific thinking of key class students were developed;the four levels of scientific thinking of the general class students were significantly developed.Model construction teaching could effectively promote the development of students' scientific thinking,but the teaching effect was different for different class of students.Combining with the teaching practice,this study summed up the general process of the model construction teaching to train the students' scientific thinking as the teaching purpose,and provided the concrete teaching cases in order to provide some reference for the front-line educators.
