The Study On The Offensive Capability Of New Zealand National Team In 2019 Men’s Basketball World Cup Preliminary Contest

As FIBA continues to adjust the intercontinental events according to the general trend,China will not only compete with the traditionally strong teams like Iran,South Korea,and West Asia.The difficulty for China earning rights to participate in the Olympic Games and the Men’s basketball World Cup is rising because Australia and New Zealand are counted in the Asian team.This paper would analysis and study the offensive ability performance of New Zealand in the 2019 men’s basketball world preliminary tournament.by applying methods of literature method,video analysis,case analysis method,and mathematical statistics method.The results of the study show that:(1)New Zealand team has a high success rate of fast break which ranks second in all participating teams.Most fast breaks launched from defensive rebounds,the forwards will coordinate in the backcourt then dribbling fast across the half court finished by break though,which has the highest success rate.(2)The New Zealand team’s attacking segment has a small proportion of total offensives and has a low direct scoring ability,but they has a stronger fouling ability in the attack.(3)In the positional attack,the personal offense from New Zealand,players are good at middle distance shots and 3-point shots,and the hit rate is still higher than40% facing strong defense.In terms of team offense,the New Zealand team has plenty of covers and the tactical use of outside coverture.Among them,they would score more when they use cover teamwork.Furthermore,the New Zealand team prefers the three-point shot after breakthrough-pass because of higher hit rate.(4)The New Zealand team is more likely to face the man-to-man defense rather than the zone defense.Because they will take more time when they faceman-to-man defense.In offensive area,the success rate is higher when they face man-to-man defense but with a high turnover rate.Therefore,the New Zealand team is more capable of attacking the man-to-man defense.(5)We can notice that there are many single attacks from Webster brothers in the last seconds or last attack round of each quarter,the other players use the ball-free running position and cover to find opportunities.(6)The New Zealand team has a tough,fast pace and advocates physical confrontation.Good at rushing for rebounds,so the fast break is relatively large in the offense compared to other teams.In the positional attack,there are many outside attacks,mainly due to cover and sudden breakouts.There are stable three-pointers in the team and the center has a certain long-range ability and back-to-back ability.
