Following the entry of the developed countries such as Europe and the United States into an aging society,China has gradually entered an ageing society, and a series of problems may arise in response to an aging population. How to deal with the aging of the population is something we deserve attention. At the same time,in the past 40 years of reform and opening up,how to effectively promote economic growth is a problem we have been facing all the time. The "troika" that promotes economic growth refers to consumption.Investment,export.Increasing the consumption level of urban residents is a necessary way to improve China's GDP.Generally speaking, population aging will affect the consumption level of urban residents. Therefore,it is urgent to study how the current situation of population aging affects the consumption level of urban residents.Based on this, this paper will use the time series data of the old-age dependency ratio, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents and the per capita disposable income of urban residents from 1990 to 2015,and conduct a descriptive statistical analysis on the old-age dependency ratio and the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents, and then pass Eviews 8.0,constructing a structural vector autoregressive model(SVAR),impulse response function, and exploring the mechanism of the old-age dependency ratio on the per capita consumption level of urban residents. The analysis shows that the aging of China's population is positively affected by the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents, both in the long-term and short-term.Similarly,the increase in the consumption level of urban residents will accelerate the process of population aging, and the per capita consumption of urban residents in response to the aging of the population.Level the effect of the effect and improve practical recommendations.
