Since 2014,the benign competition between China and Japan in the men's 4x100 m relay event has made the Asian record continuously refresh and the Asian relay level continuously improve. This paper USES the method of literature, video analysis, comparative analysis and mathematical statistics to study the technical and tactical application of the two teams in the men's 4 100 m relay at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016 and the world athletics championships in London in 2017.The results of relay race between Chinese and Japanese teams were compared with the athletes' individual 100 m level, and the relay technical indicators and tactical characteristics were analyzed. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors restricting the competitive level of China's relay, the shortcomings of baton transfer technology and the differences in relay tactics through the analysis of the sports results and the techniques and tactics used by the two teams in the men's 4x100 m relay final at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and the 2017 world athletics championships in London. The results of the study are as follows: 1.The gap between the average 100 m performance of Chinese athletes and that of other world top teams reaches 0.16 seconds. In terms of relay segment performance, the average performance rate of the four athletes in 2016 was 107.68%,ranking first. That compares with an average of 106.16 percent for the 2017 season, which ranks fourth.2.In the 2016 season, the average time for Chinese athletes to pass the relay area was the shortest, reaching 1.86 seconds. The relay gains the most time, reaching 2.80 seconds; The position and distance used by the athletes to complete the handoff are also within a reasonable range. In the 2017 season,Chinese athletes took an average of 1.94 seconds to cross the relay zone, ranking fourth. The relay gains 2.27 seconds, ranking the third; The fourth runner completes the baton when the distance outside the relay area is only 0.5 meters.3.The Chinese team arranged the members with outstanding starting and accelerating ability but weak strength in the 100-meter race in the first leg with the shortest distance, the two members with the strongest strength in the 100-meter race in the second and third leg with the longest distance, and an experienced member with outstanding sprint ability in the last leg.The Japanese team placed the three most powerful and experienced players in the first three legs of the 100-meter race, and the fourth leg was filled with an athlete who could keep up the pace. Conclusion: 1.There is a big gap between China's competitive level and that of Jamaica, the United States and the United Kingdom, but there is a relatively small gap between China and Japan and Canada. The main reason is that China's first, four stick athletes hundred meters level is poor, affect the overall strength of the relay;Chinese athletes are not stable enough in competition and their performance fluctuates greatly.2.The maximum relay efficiency of the Chinese team in the competition is higher than that of the Japanese team, and the average time of passing through the relay area is also lower than that of the Japanese team, indicating that the handoff technology of the Chinese team is better than that of the Japanese team. However,in the 17 years of competition, the relay efficiency was lower than the Japanese team, and the athletes in the 3rd and 4th leg completed the handover of the baton, and the relay technical stability was lower than the Japanese team.3.The relay strategy of China is to give full play to the technical characteristics of each athlete, while the Japanese team focuses on placing the three most powerful and experienced players in the first three legs of the 100-meter relay. The purpose is to ensure that there will be no mistakes in the first three legs, and at the same time to establish the leading edge and confidence for the last leg.
