There were multiple and overwhelming transitions in early modem England,in which the education of England aristocracy altered profoundly.The aim of education was to train gentlemen instead of knights.The public education took the place of private education,and the main subjects of education were Classics.On one hand,the aristocracy changed the education for the sake of dominance.On the other hand,humanism effected the changes.Focus on the typical Harrow School which is a representative of aristocratic education,it is obvious that the most important subjects were Classics in early modern Harrow School,and the extracurricular activities were physical exercises and religious activities.By the combination of the before-mentioned activities,Harrow School cultivated the scholars academically,physically and morally.The teachers and boarding system were essential for the operation of Harrow School,and the establishment of boarding system kept pace with the turning into an aristocratic school.The aristocratic education in early modem England upgraded the aristocratic scholars academically and morally,facilitated the occupation of civil service positions and bonding the aristocratic families.In terms of the whole aristocracy,the education made it possible to maintain the dominant position and renew the image of the aristocracy.Moreover,considering the England society,the education promoted the development of cultural undertaking,and brought up the ethos of emulating the upper class.During the period of early modern,the aristocratic education showed features of secularization,nationalization and specialization.But scientification is unobvious.And the education played the role of the obstructor of the public sharing the education welfare.
