The development of vocational identity is an important part of the progress of self-identity of college students.It is of great theoretical and practical significance for promoting the progress of the private college students' career identity to survey the students' status of development of career identity and to carry out an intervention study.In this research,survey method is used first.1032 students from three non-government colleges,Nanchang Institute of Science and Technology,Nanchang Institute of Technology and Jiangxi college of applied science and technology,were randomly investigated by the revised Chinese version Vocational Identity Scale.The scale was translated and revised by Yuan Lili.Then the career identity of the students form one class whose whole developmental levels of career identity were low were all intervened by group counseling.Lastly,the effectiveness of intervention was tracked for half a year.The results showed:(1)Private college students' developmental levels of career identity were relatively low,which needed to be further improved.Students of different gender,native place,grade,discipline background,etc,showed significant difference in developmental levels.The difference differed in every dimension of vocational identity.(2)The differences of incremental fraction from the experimental group and control groups on the dimensions of”vocational interest”,”capability assessment”,”career decision-making”and the aggregate score of VIS differed significantly.The incremental fractions of experimental group were larger than that of control groups,markedly.The students of experimental group had positive evaluation on the group counseling.And all the results mean that the group counseling was effective and it could promote the progress of college students' vocational identity.(3)On the dimension of “vocational interest”and”capability assessment”,the effect of the group counseling could keep long-time validity.However,on the dimension of ”career decision-making”and on the aggregate score of VIS,the effect of the group counseling declined as time goes by.The effect of the group counseling on the dimension of ”career decision-making”faded away after one month.
