The primary school science is a course which focuses on cultivating students' scientific literacy through inquiry activities.However,the traditional teaching method can't meet the requirements of cultivating students' scientific literacy currently.Therefore,the educators need to improve and explore new teaching methods constantly.PBL is a teaching method,taking problems as the starting point for learning,in which students learn by independent inquiry and cooperative learning,so as to acquire knowledge and improve ability.The method not only complies with the curriculum standards of the primary school science,but also adapts to the development of the era,which is helpful to cultivate many innovative and versatile talents.Therefore,the author thinks that PBL teaching method can be applied to the teaching of the primary school science.The research methods adopted by the author mainly include the literature research method,experimental methodology and the survey study.The thesis mainly carries out the research on the application of PBL teaching method in the primary school science subject to promote the educational reform of the primary school science and make the application of PBL teaching method in the primary school science enforceable and practical.Firstly,the thesis analyzes the research background,present research situation,concept and the theoretical basis of the PBL teaching method.Based on the research of domestic and foreign literature,it is found that the application of PBL teaching method in primary school science is still in the exploratory stage.The theoretical basis of PBL teaching method includes the constructivist theory,the humanism theory and the cooperative learning theory.Then,the thesis discusses the construction of the PBL teaching method in the science teaching of the primary school,including the main characteristics and the implementationprocess.The main characteristics refer to the forms such as the inferiority centered problem in real situation,new role definitions of teachers and students as well as the group cooperation.The implementation process includes five steps such as determining the class content and preparing for problems,creating problem situation and raising problems,analyzing problems and making plans,solving problems through the group cooperation,presenting improved plans and evaluating as well as concluding them.Finally,the thesis adopts the experimental methodology to carry out the applied research with the specific cases.The thesis has chosen the Grade Five in a Primary School in Jinan City for the control experiment.The author conducts the teaching design and implementation by taking Lumber,the content in the first volume of Grade Five in Qingdao version,as an example.Students in the experimental class are taught by combining the PBL and the traditional teaching method,while students in the control class are taught with the previous traditional teaching method.After the class research,the author applies the survey study method to analyze the application effect.The author carries out the pen and paper test research to analyze quantitatively the students' scores in the objective part and the subjective part by means of Excel and SPSS25.0 data analysis tool software.The author concludes that the PBL teaching method can improve students' scores modestly in contrast to the original teaching method within the short term.The author,based on the class survey and research,finds out that the PBL teaching method can stimulate students' interest in the study and improve students' critical thinking,scientific exploration and the group cooperation abilities.After the interview with students and front-line teachers,the author finds that both students and the front-line teachers show a high degree of recognition toward the problem-based study and are willing to adopt the PBL teaching method to the future science teaching.Based on the above finding,the author puts forward relevant suggestions that students,teachers and the society should jointly participate in it to make the PBL teaching method have a better application effect on the teaching.Students should give play to the autonomous learning awareness,enhance the autonomous learning ability and the group cooperation aswell as explore actively.As for the teachers,they should continue to improve their teaching quality,implement the new curriculum idea and return the class time to students.More funds should be invested and more facilities should be built in the society to provide material guarantee for the education.The education authorities need to publicize and implement the new educational reform more vigorously.
