Basketball has become a very popular sport all over the world with its unique charm and has been loved by the masses of our country. The Men's Basketball World Cup(formerly known as the Men's Basketball World Championship),which represents the overall trend of the development of world basketball,is a world-class basketball tournament hosted by the International Basketball Association.According to the famous basketball data analyst Dean Oliver, the “four factors”,which refer to the four deep technical indicators including Turnovers per Possession,Offensive Rebounding Percentage,Effective Field Goal Percentage and Free Throw Rate, play a key role in the results in the games of American Professional Basketball.FIBA provides 19 basic data and 2 deep data. The “four factors “is the re-integration of these basic data and refines the analysis indicators, thus provides a foundation for the deep analysis of the games. In this study,92 matches of the Men's Basketball World Cup in 2019 were selected to conduct regression analysis and rank the relative importance of four factors influencing the outcome of the matches.By using the method of documentary data, video analysis, logic analysis and mathematical statistics, this thesis makes a systematic analysis of the winning team and losing team, group and knockout rounds, different rankings, game tempo and players in different positions,Chinese team and its competing opponents as we as the top four teams to find out how the “four factors”influence the results of the game in different conditions and what's more,to discover the general characteristics and regularity of the performance of the world's top teams. This result of the research can provide reference for the improvement of Chinese men's basketball competitive level. The result of research shows that:Firstly, the regression analysis shows that the four factors play different roles in the game scores, according to their importance, they can be ranked as follows:Effective Field Goal Percentage,Turnovers per Possession,Offensive Rebounding Percentage, and Free Throw Rate, from which the author concludes that In the 2019Men's Basketball World Cup,the biggest factor affecting the game's scores difference is Effective Field Goal Percentage, and the smallest factor is Free Throw Rate.Secondly, the analysis of the four factors of the winning and losing teams shows that the Effective Field Goal Percentage is highly significant to the winning and losing teams, which is consistent with the regression equation.Thirdly,in the analysis of the performance of the group stage and the knockout stage, the four factors have a significant influence on the outcome of the competition. The winning team has a lower error rate in the knockout phase than in the group stage; In the knockout game, the percentage of offensive rebound is higher than that in the group stage, and the difference between the winning teams in Effective Field Goal and Free Throw Rate is significantly reduced. This shows that in the knockout stage, the wining team has a stronger controlling ability over error rate and puts more emphasis on the rebounds. Both sides have similar attack and defense strength,so the competition is fiercer.Fourthly,in the analysis of the "four factors" of the performance in different ranking sections, the influence of Error Rate,Effective Field Goal Percentage and Free Throw Rate on the result of the game was significantly different. The strong teams have a clear advantage in effective field goal percentage and turnovers.Analysis shows that three points, assists, defensive rebounds, free throws and turnovers are highly significant different, which indicates that the world's strong teams attach importance to the overall team basketball, the scoring means are more diverse, the offensive and defensive technical and tactical cooperation is more outstanding in integrity and continuity, and the strong teams show a trend of overall balanced tactical system development.Fifthly,in the analysis of the "four factors" of the game performance under different rhythms, the "four factors" are just the calculation of the ratio of basic indicators, and there is no significant difference in the impact on the rhythm. The number of shots, errors, steals, free throws and other basic indicators significantly influence the rhythm of the game. This means that with the full-court press, more steals and opportunities are created for opponents to make mistakes,it's more likely to seize the offensive and defensive transition to increase the offensive opportunities to speed up the pace of the game.In the analysis of "four factors" of winning and losing teams in different rhythm, the effective shooting percentage and free throw ratein fast rhythm;Effective shooting percentage and error rate in general tempo; The effective shooting percentage and offensive rebounding percentage in slow tempo are significantly different from each other.Among them, the 3-point shooting, free throws and assists in the fast pace have significant differences in the outcome of the game, which indicates that the winning team in the fast pace has a higher 3-point percentage, and has stronger ability to make use of the inside line and make a breakthrough to attack the opponents. In general rhythm, there are significant differences in 2-point shooting,3-point shooting, assists and turnovers, steals and blocks. The winning team can better play its overall strength advantage and play better on both attack and defense. The winning team in slow rhythm can make full use of its advantages of higher shooting percentage and rebounding. So improving shooting percentage is the key to winning in the three types of tempo.Lastly,in this World Cup,players of different positions are playing different advantages according to their own characteristics, and the importance of contribution to the team ranks as center, forward and defender.
