Computational thinking,as one of the three major scientific thinking,should be a basic skill for everyone,just like reading,writing and arithmetic.Therefore,it is necessary to promote the cultivation of students' computational thinking ability in the process of education.In the training of computational thinking,some studies have shown that pair programming is an effective method of training computational thinking.However,it remains to be studied whether the effect of pair learning based on pair programming on the training of computational thinking in non-programming courses.As a public compulsory course for non-computer major students,Computer Application Foundation Curriculum covers a wide range of students,and the teaching content basically does not involve programming.Therefore,in this study,based on the pair learning teaching method of pair programming technology,a pair learning teaching model oriented to the cultivation of computational thinking was constructed to verify the effect of pair learning on computational thinking in Computer Application Foundation Curriculum.Accordingly,this studyaims to solve the following two problems:(1)Is there a significant difference in the training effect of computational thinking between pair learning and lecture/training teaching?(2)Does pair learning teaching promote the development of computational thinking?In order to solve the above problems,this study targets the newly-entered first-year students in vocational colleges and selects two classes with homogeneity.One of them is the experimental group uses pair learning to teach,and another is the control group uses lecture/training teaching.In the experimental class,students with similar initial level of computer skills were paired.The teaching experiment lasts for one month,and the computational thinking scale is used to measure the learner's computational thinking before and after the teaching as a basis for testing the effect of calculating thinking training.The results show that there are significant differences between pair learning and lecture/training teaching,and pair learning can promote the development of computational thinking.
