Educational system in the Philippines had a total transformation to enhance the effectiveness of the curriculum towards career opportunities and life skills of the Filipino youth in nation building. The implementation of the K-12 Curriculum Program is perhaps one of the major alterations that had shaken the entire Philippine educational system. This research aimed to determine the academic engagement of the pupils under the new curriculum program of Rosario District 2,Agusan del Sur,Philippines. This qualitative research is guided by three research questions,(1)what is the level of academic engagement of pupils of Rosario district 2 in the implementation of the K-12 programs on the following: cognitive engagement, behavioral engagement and affective/ emotional engagement?(2)What are the problems encountered by the pupils of Rosario District 2 in the implementation of the K-12 program in their academic engagement?(3)What are the suggested intervention programs to address the problems encountered in the implementation of the K-12 programs? There were three selected schools in the district where the study was conducted.Among the participants were twenty teachers, three school heads/ principal and two curriculum experts and the pupils of the selected schools for class observation. The data collection methods were interview, class observation and documents analysis. The findings of the study revealed that pupils are more engage in their academics since K-12 are more focus on the child centered education, and pupils engagement in school becomes more significant in their lives if there is encouragement, proper assessment and substantial support. However, the implementation of the K-12 is not yet fully implemented but the progresses are more apparent.Besides, the teacher?s respondents are one of the new programs and are willing to adapt the change for the betterment of the learners.Based on the findings of this study,it is recommended that assistance is needed in the new curriculum programs and the problem encountered.Policy makers also need to consider the current generation, the nature of the students as well as the global changes that requires the learning to be based on strengthening cooperation attitude.Recommendations for future research are also suggested.Teacher training process and curriculum formulation processes are among the few important aspects that welcome further research in this aspect of education. It is expected that the well trained teachers with a quality curriculum will be capable to teach well with a well-planned curriculum in these lower schools. The question that needs answers from the next researchers are: Does the teacher training process foster students participation during their real teaching practice? How is the students? or school curriculum? Does it integrate students? engagement practice? What is the nature of classrooms? Does the government build classrooms and outside the classroom setting that are suitable for classroom two sided integration?...
