Learning motivation is the psychological motivation and tendency to stimulate students' learning activities towards certain learning goals.It plays an important role in the process of second language learning.From the perspective of research status,there are few researches on the motivation of Chinese language learners in Australia.The author is lucky to be engaged in Chinese teaching in Australia.She has made a survey on this issue.She analyzed the factors that affect the learning motivation of Australian Chinese learners,and provided the strategies and teaching methods to stimulate their learning motivation.She expects to provide reference for the study of Chinese learning motivation in Australia in the future.This paper mainly studies the motivation of Chinese language learners in Mosman High School.In the process of research,the author first investigated the Chinese learners from grade 7 to 12 in Mosman High School through questionnaire,and then interviewed the Chinese teachers in the Confucius Institute of the Ministry of education of New South Wales.She learned about the basic information of students about their gender,grade,year of Chinese learning,and whether to choose Chinese in the next school year.According to Dornyei's three-level motivation theory model,the learning motivation of students in Mosman high school is divided into six categories: integrative motivation,instrumental motivation,achievement motivation,passive motivation,learning situation motivation and non-motivation.Then the intensity of each learning motivation and the correlation between different factors and learning motivation are found.The results show that school and teachers are the main factors affecting Chinese language learners' learning motivation,and some suggestions are put forward for the problems encountered in these two aspects.Finally,this paper summarizes this study,and points out the shortcomings of this study and prospects for future research.
