Since the geographic core literacy of comprehensive thinking,human-land coordination, regional cognition, and geographical practice ability was promoted by the Geography Curriculum Standard for Senior conducive to the formation of students' core literacy in geography. Therefore,it is urgent to identify the current status of geography survey activities in senior high schools and its relationship with region were investigated by using questionnaire and interview,as well as statistical methods. The existing problems in geographical survey activities were as well summarized and the corresponding strategies were proposed. On this basis, the relationship between geographic survey activities and geography core literacy was analyzed, and a case study of geographic survey activities based on geography core literacy was designed. The results not only help to evaluate the effect of geographical survey activities on improving the core literacy of geography discipline, but also enrich the curriculum resources of geographical survey in Xinyang region,as well as provide valuable reference for front-line teachers to carry out geographical survey activities. The paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly illustrated the background and importance of the topic, summarized the domestic and foreign research progress, and stated the research contents, methods and technical route of the paper. The second chapter expounded the related theoretical basis of pedagogical psychology and geography, and defined the boundary concepts of geographical core literacy and geographical survey. The third chapter investigated the current situation of geography survey activities and the level of geographical core literacy of three high school students in Xinyang region by using questionnaire and interview methods. The relationship between geography survey activities and geographical core literacy was analyzed by using statistical methods. In Chapter Four,on the basis of the investigation mentioned above, the problems existed in the process of carrying out geographical survey activities in Xinyang high school was summarized and the corresponding strategies were proposed to improve the effective geographical survey activities. In the fifth chapter,a typical case study of geographical activity investigation was designed after sorting out the physical and human geography resources in Xinyang region. The conclusion and prospect were presented in Chapter Six.The main conclusions were as follows:(1)The survey found that the frequency of geographical survey activities was relatively lower.More than half of the teachers said that they had never carried out geographical survey activities.Up to 60.87% of the teachers surveyed believed that schools often had limited support for geographical survey activities due to security, funds and class hours. Most of the geographical survey courses have been conducted in the form of classroom teaching, and been assessed by investigation report and oral presentation.More than half(58.97%)of the students surveyed said they had never participated in the survey, and about 54.36% believed that the lack of support from schools and parents was the main reason for restricting their participation in the survey. These findings suggested that the educational value of geographical survey activities was not fully understood for schools, teachers, students and parents.(2)The investigation found that the level of students' human-land coordination was the highest. The next were comprehensive thinking and regional cognition, but students' understanding of these two qualities was inaccurate and their content was not proficient. The level of students' geographical practice ability was the lowest.(3)Cross analysis found that there existed a significant relation between the frequency of students' participation in geographical survey activities and the level of geographical core literacy.Geographical survey activities could promote high school students' geographical core literacy.Geographical survey has the most significant effect on improving student's geographical practice ability. The promotion of human-land coordination and comprehensive thinking was also obvious. However, the cultivation of regional cognition was not obvious.(4)The problems for geographical survey were as follows.Insufficient attentions were paid to geographical survey activities at all sides in Xinyang region.Geographical surveys are outdated and simple in form, and the ability of geography teachers to guide practical teaching was insufficient. The evaluation system of geographical survey is not perfect.Given that, the corresponding proposals were put forward. The first is to raise awareness and fully understand the educational value of geographical investigation. The next is to exploring resources to enrich the content of investigation activities. The third suggestion is to carry out training to enhance the ability of teachers to guide practical teaching. The last two are to stimulate students' interest in participating in geographical survey activities,as well as build a scientific and reasonable evaluation system.(5)According to new geography curriculum, the subjects for geographical survey suitable in Xinyang region were summarized.Geography curriculum resources were collected based on the principles of science, typicality and feasibility. Finally,on the basis of geographical survey components, the case study entitled “the most beautiful country of Hao Tang” was designed.
