A Comparative Study On The Offensive And Defensive Characteristics Between Strong And Weak Teams In High Level Men's Competitions

The basketball World Cup is the highest level competition organized by Fiba,and the technical and tactical characteristics of the participating teams often represent the future development direction.Offense and defense are the core of basketball games' tactics.The analysis of high-level games,especially the comparative analysis of strong and weak teams,can help coaches and athletes accurately grasp the winning rules of basketball games and provide decision support for targeted training and scientific participation.In this study,the video observation method was used to collect the data of the main offensive and defensive technical indexes of the strong and weak teams in the group stage of the strong and weak teams in the 2019 men's basketball World Cup(n=24).The mathematical statistics method was used to make a comparative analysis of the offensive and defensive characteristics of the strong and weak teams from the two dimensions of offense and defense.The results showed that:1.The strong and weak team offense characteristic difference is mainly manifested in the following aspects:(1),scoring teams in the binary number of hits,binary ball count and free throws,free-throw shooting accuracy superior to the weaker teams(p < 0.05),in which the elite guard and forward the ball better significantly higher than the weak team players with position(p < 0.05),strong team forward three hit number significantly higher than the weak team forward(p < 0.05);The shooting methods of the strong and weak teams are mainly to catch the ball,dribble the ball and break the layup,but the weak team USES the ball more.(2)in terms of assists,the strong team is significantly better than the weak team(p<0.05),the gap mainly exists in the guard position(p<0.05).(3)in terms of fighting for offensive rebounds,the strong team is more active than the weak team in fighting for offensive rebounds.The strong team outnumbers the weak team in the number of offensive rebounds from the point,the number of offensive rebounds from the top and the number of offensive rebounds from the rush.(4)in terms of errors,the strong team had better control ability of errors(p<0.05),and the forward errors of the strong team were significantly less than those of the weak team(p<0.05).The strong team made more passing and receiving mistakes than the weak team.The number of dribbling errors of the weak team was higher than that of the strong team(p<0.05).2.The difference between strong and weak teams in defensive characteristics is mainly reflected in the following aspects :(1)in terms of shot blocking,the interior defense of strong teams is more intimidating,especially for the defense of opponents' breakthrough layup.(2)in terms of interception,the number of interception of the strong team was significantly higher than that of the weak team(p<0.05),which was mainly reflected in the interception of the opponents' dribbling and the interception of the opponents' passing.(3)in terms of fouls,the total fouls of the weak team are less than that of the strong team,while only the fouls of the forward team are more than that of the strong team;The number of fouls committed by the strong team was higher than that of the weak team(p<0.05).In the competition,the strong team in the most frequent occurrence of shooting foul,pushing foul and blocking foul,the weak team in the most frequent occurrence of shooting foul,pushing foul and pulling foul.(4)in terms of grabbing defensive rebounds,the strong teams outnumbered the weak teams in total(p<0.05).In addition,the strong teams were significantly better than the weak teams in grabbing defensive rebounds and rebounding from the top(p<0.05).In view of the above conclusion,the following suggestions are put forward: The strong team has a good command of scoring,while the weak team should improve its shooting ability in the middle and long distance,especially the forward and guard.The main players of the weak team should shoulder the heavy responsibility on both ends of offense and defense,and should pay attention to the improvement of each player's individual ability,increase the number of rotations and playing time,so as to reduce the burden of the main players;Improve the team awareness of players,especially the defensive players to enhance the ability of attack;Weak teams need to strengthen the protection of defensive rebound,improve the conversion efficiency of offense and defense;The strong team should improve the coordination and reduce the redundant passing,especially the center player's passing consciousness;Strong and weak teams to adapt to the high intensity of defense and fast-paced offensive and defensive transition,so to strengthen the physical training of the players.
