Innovation is the foundation of national development,and with the continuous progress of the times,innovation has gradually become the most important subject of the development of the times.From an international perspective,nowadays,economy and innovation complement each other and develop together.As the core competitiveness of a country or region,economic strength and innovation ability have attracted more and more attention.However,the global economic competition is becoming more and more fierce.It cannot be denied that the level of innovation plays an increasingly important role in this competition,which means that innovation is of great significance for accelerating economic upgrading.On the domestic side,based on the current development of our country,innovation is more important.It can fundamentally improve the comprehensive national strength of our country.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to explore the distribution of innovation activities in China to understand the current innovation pattern.The research on the spatial spillover effect of innovation activities can guide the coordinated development of regional innovation activities and better promote the overall innovation capability of the whole country.Based on the exploratory spatial data analysis method(ESDA)and spatial measurement model,this paper studies the spatial agglomeration distribution characteristics and spatial spillover effects of innovation activities in 31 provinces in China from 2008 to 2018.The main contents of this paper are as follows: first,using spatial autocorrelation analysis to study the spatial association of innovation activities in China,measuring the characteristics of agglomeration distribution in 31 provinces in China;second,by establishing spatial econometric model,using three different types of spatial weight matrix,the spatial spillover effect of innovation activities in China is studied as a whole,and the effect is decomposed;third,through the analysis of the interaction between innovation agglomeration and innovation spillover,the paper describes the different types of innovation spillover.It is found that the trend of spatial agglomeration of innovation activities in China is gradually decreasing from east to west,in which the high and high agglomeration area is mainly distributed in the southeast coast and some north China regions,while the western region obviously presents a low andlow agglomeration state.At the same time,there are obvious spatial spillover of innovation activities in China,and many factors,such as foreign capital utilization level,R & D investment level,human capital level and education investment level,will affect it.In addition,the spatial spillover effects of different agglomeration types are also obviously different,and innovation activities have obvious spatial spillover in high and high agglomeration areas.
