As the Intenet,s rapid development, the web use has become pretty common in people's work and life.People could search their needed information through information systems. In the traditional information searching systems, people pay more attention on the searching techniques and algorithm that help users provide more accurate information that matches keywords. However, the searching background and purpose from each user are totally different. In this situation, the traditional information searching systems cannot satisfy every user,s personal demands. As social media and social answering system occur, people are not limited to the "human to computer"interaction mechanism. Now people could find their needed information quickly and accurately through the methods like making friends, cooperation, sharing with others and publish. With the cooperation among people, the "human to human" interaction mechanism has becoming popular.Researchers begin to study the user-oriented social information seeking systems. Most research are studying social information seeking systems from macro-aspect,such as users'searching behaviors. This paper is talking about the social information seeking platform in micro-aspect.The paper mainly studies the cognitive construction and process.First, the paper introduces the relevant information about social information seeking in domestic and foreign papers, including the concept of social seeking, the construct of social seeking(motivation, user,s type, content, and process),the form of social seeking and the characteristics of users' behaviors.Meanwhile, the paper introduces the contents of cognitive science and cognitive construction. It also talks about the differences among information behavior, information seeking behavior and information searching behavior which is in order to define the scope of cognitive model in social information process. What's more, the paper shows the development of the research in information seeking models which contains three stages and some famous information seeking models.Second, the paper proposes a cognitive model in social information seeking from the perspective of cognition and other information seeking behavior models.Meanwhile, the paper analyses the characteristics of the model. There are three parts in the cognitive social information seeking model, which are before searching, searching and after searching respectively. The model distinguishes the cut.oflf point between before searching part and searching by judging whether the user has entered the keywords into tihe information systems. In fact, information seeking behavior has appeared in before searching part.In the before searching part,it contains motivation of seeking, definition of question and requirement representation. In the searching part, the model mainly shows user's cognitive characteristics and searching behaviors. And in the after searching part, the model outlines how the user deal with the searching results.Third, the paper designs some circumstances and collects data of users' behaviors.Through the descriptive analysis, the paper tests whether the model satisfies users' real actions.Meanwhile, the paper uses factor analysis and Cronbach analysis in order to test the validity and reliability of the data in questionnaire. After that, the paper uses One-Way ANOVA to analyze whether users, gender, age, career and education status have impact on users' information seeking behaviors and cognitive characteristics which are the main parts in the model. The contribution of this paper is to sort out the main parts of researches on social information seeking from variety of perspectives. What's more, the paper analyses the cognitive characteristics of social information seeking platform in micro-aspect in order to provide some thoughts to perfect social information seeking systems and help the social information seeking systems give people better personal service.
