With the rapid development of modern science and technology,people require more and more from mobile communication.The communication system not only needs to solve the problem of transmitting high-capacity information like videos,pictures,data and so on,but also ensures high speed and high quality of transmission.As an energy conversion device,the antenna plays an extremely important role in the communication system.As the micro-strip antenna has the advantages of light weight,small size,thin section,easy integration,good conformal shape,low cost and so forth,it has become more and more widely used in the modern communication system.However,when the microstrip antenna works in the lower frequency,it cannot adapt to the developing trend of radio communication to miniaturization and integration because of its large size.In an attempt to apply the various advantages of microstrip antennas into the modern communication system,many experts and scholars at home and abroad have done a lot of useful research on the broadband and miniaturization of microstrip antennas and have also obtained many achievements.This paper has introduced the research background and domestic and international research status of the broadband miniaturized microstrip antennas,including the classification,radiation principle,feeding mode and analysis method of microstrip antenna,and the basic parameters of microstrip antennas.Also,the broadband technology like the special-material dielectric substrate,optimize feeding structure,loading technology,slot on floor or patch,etc have been studied.Meanwhile,the broadband technology like adopting high-dielectric-constant dielectric substrate,special-shape radiation patch,short circuit loading and the artificial magnetic conductor have been analyzed as well.This paper has first designed a microstrip antenna,the floor etching of which has the eight-sided slot and the twisted microstrip and stepped microstrip in the opposite positions have been used as the antenna of a feeder.The feed structure can make the antenna of high isolation and meanwhile afford broadband performance to the antenna via the strategy of adding the mode of resonance.After the continuous simulation optimization,the relative size parameters of the antenna have been obtained and physical objects have been made according to the parameters.Then,its isolation,impedance,bandwidth and directivity have been tested and the test data are similar to the simulation results.This paper has also improved this antenna.That is to say,regarding the antenna as the basic structure,this paper has designed a broadband microstrip antenna with a more compact structure via etching slots of different structures in the proper position of the floor.Then the physical object of the antenna is manufactured according to the simulation model and relevant performance indexes are also tested.The test results show that the antenna can work in the 1.71 GHz-2.69 GHz band,the isolation between ports of which are both higher than 35dB as well.Compared with the former,the overall structure of the latter one is reduced by 51%and the antenna is still of high isolation and broad band.
