| Newsgames,“a broad body of work produced at the intersection of videogames and journalism”[1],represent the most emerging communication technology in the mobile Internet.They construct interactive social models and report news with the help of multi-media and game design technologies,based on procedural rhetoric.The research aims to study newsgames from the perspective of social interaction,using the methods of Historical Research,Content Analysis and Social Situation Analysis.And the main research problems include the comprehensive and dynamic historical evolution of newsgames,the processes of its production and communication,and construction and deconstruction of social situation by newsgames.First,the paper describes how news meet games,and introduces the historical evolution,definition and features of newsgames.Then how newsgames influence news production,communication and development is discussed.On the basis of these,the writer chooses five types of newsgames from the representative media organizations all over the world,and thoroughly explains how different newsgames construct and deconstruct specific social situations.Besides,the research further analyzes social impact of newsgames on the foundation of William Stephenson's The Play Theory of Mass Communication;at the same time,the existing problems of newsgames are summarized.And ultimately,the paper points out corresponding solutions to those disadvantages and predicts the future development of newsgames. |
