After nearly these years of rapid development,the technology of fused deposition molding in 3D printing becomes a kind of widely used 3D printing technology for low cost and fast speed.Dental casts have been used as a reference standard in orthodontic treatment;however,these traditional plaster casts are subject to degradation,fracture and storage inconvenience.Aiming at the low efficiency and low precision of the plaster casts making process,a practical method of making the dental casts based on image-guided 3D printing technology is put forward,and the accuracy of the casts is analyzed by computer-aided measurement.This major work involved in this thesis,as follows:Firstly,the image data of orthodontic patient is obtained by CBCT,and the traditional plaster cast is built as a reference model;Secondly,a digital dental model for 3D printing directly is built by using image segmentation,3D reconstruction and model design methods;Then the 3D printing dental casts is obtained by fused deposition modeling technique,also the process parameters can be analyzed;Finally the measurement items and measurement standards of accuracy analysis are developed,at the same time,the accuracy of the casts is analyzed using computer-aided measurement to show the difference distribution.Experimental results show that 3D printing dental casts have clinically acceptable accuracy.The method of image-guided 3D printing of dental casts reduces the pain for the patients and provided convenience for doctors.The computer aided measurement of dental casts not only replaces the traditional manual measurement method,but also greatly improves the accuracy and efficiency of the measurement,which has the potential to be applied for clinical practice.
