With the rapid popularization of wireless LAN(WLAN),in order to cope with the network environment of dense wireless network equipment, frequent wireless access, and a wide variety of wireless services, the IEEE protocol organization started the standardization work for the next generation WLAN standard-IEEE 802.11 ax in March 2013.To further improve the spectrum efficiency and network throughput,IEEE 802.11 ax will introduce technologies such as OFDMA,full-duplex,and high-order modulation at the physical layer.Meanwhile, the MAC layer protocol specifications also need to be modified to adapt to changes in the physical layer technology. This paper will follow up the research status of IEEE 802.11 ax standardization, and complete the corresponding optimization design of the MAC protocol.Based on the multi-user access problem in ultra-dense scenarios, this paper optimizes the design of the IEEE 802.11 ax OFDMA uplink access mechanism, and proposes an uplink scheduling mechanism based on the transmission demand feedback to improve the spectrum efficiency of the system. On the basis of the realization of self interference cancellation in physical layer, this paper designs the full duplex transmission MAC protocol of WLAN,and proposes two transmission methods, opportunistic full-duplex and scheduled full-duplex,which can be applied to the scene of the coexistence of the full-duplex station and the half-duplex station based on the address recognition. Thus,WLAN full-duplex transmission is achieved on the basis of compatibility with existing standards. In addition,in view of the problem of low-end spectrum saturation and the limitation of high frequency communication, this paper proposes a cooperative transmission mechanism of high and low frequency cooperation in 2.4/5GHz and 60 GHz.Based on the two standards of IEEE 802.11 ax and IEEE 802.11 ad,this paper designs the MAC protocol of high and low frequency cooperative transmission. While using high frequency resources effectively, this scheme ensures the transmission distance and reliability through low frequency assistance, and effectively improves the data transmission rate and system throughput. In this paper, the optimization design of the next generation WLAN standard IEEE 802.11 ax MAC protocol is based on the compatibility of existing standards, and aims to achieve higher spectral efficiency and system throughput. The feasibility and efficiency of the designed schemes are verified by simulation. The research work carried out in this paper is of great significance in advancing the formulation of new standards and the development of WLAN technology.
