In recent years,network pharmacology based on systems biology emerges,and it rises with the trend of life science research and has been a new paradigm for drug discovery.The application of network pharmacology in studying traditional Chinese medicine has become an opportunity for the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.The study on the mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine with network pharmacology involves a series of data,such as traditional Chinese Formulas,chemical compositions,genes/proteins related to tissues and diseases,and biological pathway.These data constitute a complex network because of its huge kinds and quantity.The type of nodes and the complexity of networks make it difficult to understand the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine.Nowadays,visual graphics combined with computer graphics and other techniques is intuitionistic,easy to understand and strongly interactive,which has maken complex network visualization technology become a reliable tool for the application of network pharmacology to study the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine.Because of the popularity of the Internet and the research upsurge of the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine combined with network pharmacology,the visualization of the mechanism network based on Web can help the research of traditional Chinese medicine.The application of Web technology can realize the acquisition of visualisation information by remote access.The article mainly realizes Web-based interactive visualization of network of mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine with JavaScript-based visualization library Cytoscape.js and other Web technologies.Through the understanding and arrangement of data of Chinese formulas,herbs,chemical compositions of traditional Chinese medicine,chemical,genes/proteins related to disease and human tissues,and biological pathway,the data about mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine(67GB)was obtained,and a database was constructed.The Over-Representation analysis based on Fisher's exact test was used for pathway enrichment analysis of formula target proteins set and genes / proteins set associated with diseases and tissues respectively.Based on the three-layer browser/server software architecture,accessing remote server to retrieve the network data related to Chinese formulas,diseases and human tissues,including Chinese herbs,chemical compositions of Chinese medicine,target proteins of chemical components in traditional Chinese medicine,genes/proteins associated with human tissues and diseases,and biological pathways,is realized for Web visualization of the network of mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine on browser.
