Virtual reality(VR)is a kind of technology which uses computers to generate a customer interface between the virtual spaces and the real spaces.A virtual reality system comprises four main systems---the information processing system,the information providing system,the information display system and the information interaction system---and the related technologies.After experiencing four stages of development,virtual reality finally entered its starting year in 2016 until the three main equipment producer launched their consumer devices: Oculus Rift,HTC Vive and Sony PlayStation VR.Today,“VR+” is becoming a new model that promotes transformation in journalism,social media,e-commerce and many other walks of life.For the foreseeable future,this new medium will be the next generation of information platform after computer and smartphone.According to media ecology,media are not neutral,and each of them has a set of intrinsic bias.As a completely new medium,virtual reality has its own material features and symbol features which form a serious of bias of senses,hot or cool,time or space and contents.Media are the causes of psychological or feeling,social,economical,political and cultural consequences.Media bias of virtual reality have tipped the balance of media environment,and formed new symbol environment,perceptual environment and social environment.All aspects of human civilization are being restructured by this new media environment.It will promote the decentralized transformation,aggravate the problem of our society,and reshape the social ethics.Each technology has its disadvantages and advantages.Virtual reality will bring new problems to human beings along with its positive impacts.So in order to get a balanced development between human and technologies,each of us should participate in building the virtual reality age together with the organizations and government by embracing new technology proactively and using new technology properly.
