With the progress and accumulation of Internet and multimedia technology,many aspects of people's life are provided with more and more possibilities.It's more convenient than ever to reach information from all over the world.The transmission environment of high resolution media is also improved thanks to the increasing of network bandwidth and the advances of codec technology.Nowadays,the applications of multimedia technology,such as real-time video surveillance and mobile live streaming,is becoming increasingly popular in people's life.To test the possibility and effect of the embedded streaming media server based on RTSP,a portable and lightweight RTSP server is designed and implemented by making use of multimedia and codec technologies.The server is capable of establishing and managing RTSP sessions and transmitting media over RTP.In addition,it supports transmitting RTP packets over UDP or TCP.The main job is implementing the server-side modules of the transmitting system.Therefore,the modules needed to be implemented include: RTSP module,RTP module and buffer management module.First,the media protocol,such as RTSP/RTP,and the audio-video codec standards,such as H.264/AAC,are further studied.Then the details of implementation of every module are elaborated.In order to test the server-side program,the implementation details of data collection module and data codec module on iOS platform are also included.Finally,a test system is built to test the functions and performance of the program.After the test,anticipated results are reached,and it turns out that the system runs steadily with acceptable transmission delay.
