As the diversity of wireless communication services and the number of wireless communication users increases,wireless spectrum resources become more and more valuable.Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)and Single-Carrier Frequency Domain Equalization(SC-FDE)systems are widely used in wireless communication.Cyclic Prefix(CP)used in the two systems avoids Inter-Symbol Interference(ISI)caused by multipath channel,and the simple one-tap frequency domain equalization can be used in receiver.However,the use of CP occupies spectrum resources.So the research of how to improve the spectral efficiency(SE)has become popular.The purpose of this thesis is to reduce the use of CP.Improving spectral efficiency by using less CPs or several symbols share one CP.However,only reducing the length of CP without changing the system structure will make the bit error rate(BER)performance of the system worse.The systems proposed in this thesis change the processing flow of the transmitter and receiver.The BER performance is basically unchanged and the complexity of the system is slightly increased to improve the spectral efficiency of the system.The research in this thesis focuses on Hybrid Carrier Domain Equalization(HC-FDE)system which combines OFDM and SC-FDE together.According to the transmission form of symbols,two scenarios are considered: successive transmission and burst transmission.This thesis introduces the proposed process of CP,the role of CP and the mathematical analysis of the impact of insufficient CP deficiency.For the burst transmission,the expression of the BER performance of HC-FDE system with insufficient CP is obtained by analyzing the Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio(SINR).BER and SE performance are analyzed.A kind of HC system with CP-free is proposed.BER performance of CP-free HC system is the same with HC-FDE system using sufficient CP.And it improves the SE performance by CP-free.For the successive transmission,the BER performance of HC-FDE system with sufficient CP is deduced and analyzed.Then two kinds of system are proposed in this thesis with several symbols using one CP.The BER,SE and computational complexity of the two systems are compared and the suitable application scenarios are discussed.
