With the development of wireless communication technology,design and research of receivers are of great significance.This paper introduces a variety of architectures of receivers,and fulfills working principle analysis,circuit structure design,layout design and post-verification work of the key modules of the RF receiver front-end.The circuit design method of low noise amplifier,mixer and variable gain amplifier is described in detail in this paper,which is based on the superheterodyne structure receiver.Due to the noise cancellation technology,Low noise amplifier can achieve input impedance matching at the same time with lower noise in a wide frequency band.Moreover,current reused technology can improve current efficiency and achieve higher gain at limited power consumption to reduce noise requirements for post modules.The mixer is based on the Gilbert cell structure and the current-injection technique is applied to reduce the DC current of the switching transistors,thereby reducing the flicker noise while increasing the converter gain and linearity.Employing the cross-coupled transconductance enhancement technique,the equivalent transconductance is increased,and what's more,the LC oscillation circuit is added between the drain of transconductance pairs to increase the transmission gain and improve the noise performance.In addition,the PMOS cross-coupling is acted as an active load to increase the transmission gain.In the variable gain amplifier,the open-loop structure is adopted to achieve greater bandwidth,with the differential input to single-ended output structure,and an IF amplifier is designed to ensure enough output power and high linearity.Based on the TSMC 0.18μm CMOS process,the schematic design,layout design and post-verification of the RF receiver front-end are carried out.The simulation results show that the proposed 400 ~ 600 MHz RF receiver front-end achieves a single sideband noise figure of less than 11.2dB,a gain dynamic range of 20 ~ 43 dB,and a harmonic suppression ratio higher than 28 dBc at 1.8V power supply voltage.In addition,the 1dB compression point is 15.2dBm,and the input and output voltage standing wave ratio are lower than 1.8dB.The design reaches the target and has been sent to the film.
