With the rapid development of mobile devices and virtual reality technology,the haptic rendering technology on mobile terminals has gradually become a hot issue in the research of human-computer interaction.Combining the mobile terminal with the portable vibration device not only enlarges the audience(such as visually impaired persons,visually constrained environments,etc.),but also facilitates the use of haptic interaction technologies in the promotion and application of a wider range of fields(such as online education,online shopping,and mobile games).Therefore,the combination of the two has a broad market value and application scenarios.This paper aims at the deficiency of haptic interaction on mobile terminals,and designs a set of vibrotaction fingertip interaction system for mobile terminals.The system uses piezoelectric actuators and voice coil motors to realize distributed vibrotactile stimuli at the fingertip.By modulating the control parameters such as spatial position,rhythm,and frequency of the vibration stimulus,tactile expression of the three-dimensional shape and texture of the object in the interactive process of the mobile terminal is realized.The main work of this article includes the following four aspects:(1)The vibration fingertip device originally developed in the laboratory has been improved,and two types of actuators(piezoelectric actuators and voice coil motor)are used to achieve texture and shape tactile expression.(2)We conducted experiments on objective control characteristics and subjective perception characteristics of the voice coil motor used in the device.These studies provide the basis for the parameters of the haptic rendering algorithm proposed in this paper.(3)This paper presents a vibrotactile mapping control method for shape haptic features(local gradients)and a vibration waveform modulating algorithm for texture reproduction.(4)In this paper,the fusion haptic reproduction of shape and texture is realized on the mobile terminal.Finally,we conducted a perception experiment to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the system.
