2020 is the first year of 5G large-scale commercial use.Among them,remote medi-cal care,AR/VR,autonomous driving and other innovative services will make our lives change dramatically.As the core component of the entire communication system,the antenna plays a decisive role in the realization of the quality and function of the entire network.This article is to clarify the development process of base station antenna sector-ization,beam forming,electrical downtilt,multi-band and dual polarization,understand the current development status of base station antennas,and grasp the future base station antenna's trend with full-band configuration and accurate beam coverage,the develop-ment of multi-user beamforming,high radiation concentration and low loss,two base station antenna radiation elements have been designed,which is of great significance for improving the performance of the communication system.The first is a low-profile radiating element that can work in the 1710?2690MHz fre-quency band.The radiator of the antenna element is constructed from four folded dipoles,forming a octagon-like shape in a plane.The height of the balun between the radiating surface and the reflector is 0.169 ?0(?0 is the wavelength corresponding to 2.2GHz).The whole unit is made of die-cast metal,so that it has good stability.Further,the 2 × 12 array composed of this radiating element proves that the entire base station antenna also has excellent performance under different electrical downtilt angles.Secondly,based on the same basic principle of folded dipole,a hollow bowl-shaped antenna element working at 617?960MHz was designed.The entire unit also uses the same manufacturing process as the previous low-profile high-frequency radiating element so that the high stability was achieved.Compared with the traditional bowl-shaped radiator,the impedance matching performance of the antenna element has been greatly improved.
