Media Attention,Internal Control Quality And Environmental Protection Investment

With the continuous development of my country's economic level,ecological and environmental problems have become increasingly prominent,and most of these problems are caused by companies blindly pursuing their own economic interests and neglecting their environmental responsibilities.The promulgation of the "Corporate Internal Control Supporting Guidelines" in 2010 further emphasized that corporate environmental responsibility is the core content of social responsibility,and the public's request for corporate environmental responsibility is becoming stronger and stronger,which makes the company have to revisit environmental responsibility.For the issue of fulfillment,it is even more important for heavily polluting enterprises to actively fulfill their environmental responsibilities.In recent years,how to more actively and effectively incentivize companies to pursue their own interests at the same time,while allowing them to actively strengthen their environmental responsibility awareness has become the focus of academic research.Therefore,this article explores the relationship between media attention,internal control quality and environmental protection investment in combination with internal and external governance mechanisms of the enterprise.This article first summarizes and combs the relevant literature,and puts forward three assumptions based on the theory of social responsibility theory,entrusted environmental responsibility concept,and agenda setting theory.Secondly,taking the enterprises in the heavy pollution industry in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2012 to 2017 as the research object,using Wen Zhonglin's(2004)intermediary effect test procedure,and using multiple regression methods to empirically test the research hypothesis.Finally,the robustness of the model is tested.Through empirical research,this paper finds that media attention as an effective external monitoring method can significantly increase the level of corporate environmental protection investment,indicating that media attention plays a significant role in corporate governance;media attention has a significant positive correlation with internal control quality;internal control Quality plays an obvious part of the intermediary effect in the relationship between media attention and environmental protection input.According to the research conclusions,this article proposes that the environmental protection awareness of enterprises should be strengthened,and the long-term effects of environmental protection investment by heavily polluting enterprises should be enhanced;the external supervision effect of the media's attention should be brought into full play;and the internal control system should be actively improved.Therefore,the relationship between research media attention,internal control and environmental protection investment can promote the sustainable and harmonious development of enterprises and society,and also have a positive significance for the realization of my country's "green development" and the construction of my country's ecological civilization.
