Study On The Changes In Manufacturing Structure And Productivity Growth Of Gansu Under The New Normal

Structural adjustment is a remarkable characteristic of economic growth in modern time,and a key factor of driving productivity growth.The development of the manufacturing industry is not only reflected in the rapid growth of the total amount,but also in terms of structural adjustment.The structural problems of Gansu's manufacturing industry are becoming increasingly prominent,and the structural change of manufacturing industry is imperative under the New Normal.This paper analyzes the bidirectional mechanism of the structural change of manufacturing industry and productivity growth from the three dimensions of technological progress,factor input and market-oriented reform.Based on the statistics of 27 segments of Gansu manufacturing industry from 2000 to 2014,the characteristics of structural changes of Gansu's manufacturing industry were analyzed.It is found that the manufacturing structure of Gansu is unbalanced,and the proportion of heavy industry is too large,that the development of the manufacturing sector relies heavily on raw materials,resources and energy inputs,that the overall level of manufacturing industry is low,whereas the rationalization level is in a lower stage.However,the level of rationalization has shown a marked improvement since2012.In the empirical research part,the C-D function is used to calculate the total factor productivity of the manufacturing sector.By comparing the total factor productivity changes between 2001-2011 and 2012-2014,the impact of structural change on the productivity of Gansu's manufacturing industry is analyzed.It is found that the role of structural change in manufacturing productivity change has weakened since 2000.Moreover,the contribution of manufacturing structure change to productivity is different in different stages of economic development.As time goes on,the influence of structural factors on productivity is weakened.
