Regional coordinated development is a major issue facing the current social and economic development in China.Since 1990 s,the rapid rise of urban agglomeration has made the urban agglomeration not only an important engine for the growth of regional economy, but also the core subject of regional coordinated development strategy. Therefore, the urban agglomeration plays a more and more important role in promoting the coordinated development of regions.Focusing on the urban agglomeration system spatial distribution and evolution process, analyzing the driving mechanism behind it,and exploring the characteristics and causes of regional economic difference of urban agglomeration from the macro perspective is of great significance for optimizing urban agglomeration network, promoting the healthy development of urban agglomeration system and coordinated development of regional economy. This paper taking 19 urban agglomerations as the basic research unit, first of all,Constructing the spatial contact network of urban agglomerations and characterizing the spatial connection and evolution of urban agglomerations in China using social network analysis methods. Then based on the matrix relationship between the urban agglomeration network and the specific indicators of the influential factors, the paper discusses the influencing factors behind the urban agglomeration spatial contact network by using the QAP algorithm in the social network analysis. Finally, the size, characteristics and sources of economic development differences between urban agglomeration and urban agglomeration are analyzed by introducing the Dagum Gini coefficient and the nonparametric estimation method. The analysis concluded: First of all, characteristics of urban agglomeration network shows the tendency of increasingly close and multi-center evolution, the vitality of some urban agglomerations in the central and western regions is becoming more and more prominent, and the status of the network is rising. The analysis of the driving mechanism of China's urban agglomeration spatial connection network shows that besides the objective distance factors, the economic development level of the urban agglomeration, the proportion of the third industry, the agglomeration and diffusion of elements have a significant impact on the spatial connection network structure of the urban agglomeration. The results of Dagum decomposition of Gini coefficient and kernel density estimation proves that the economic development in China's urban agglomeration presents a non-equilibrium trend and a multi-level differentiation as awhole.Differences in economic development among urban agglomerations are the main reasons for the imbalance in the overall economic development of urban agglomerations. The urban agglomeration in the East, the Middle and the West has great imbalance in both intra-regional and inter-regional economic differences.Based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward some pertinent policy recommendations:We attach great importance to the new characteristics of the structural characteristics and evolution process of China's urban agglomeration spatial connection network. We should adjust the spatial linkage pattern of urban agglomeration from the perspective of network. The development strategy of urban agglomerations should be formulated in a targeted way,Which mainly starts with the economic construction of Urban Agglomeration, and also we should pay attention to the construction of modern transportation and comprehensive transportation network in urban agglomeration. The government should play a leading role in strategic distribution of urban Agglomeration economic development and carry out differentiated regional macro control policies to ease regional differences in the economic development of urban agglomerations, and strive to create a multi polar and multi polar support development so as to avoid serious polarization.
