In the context of increasingly complex social research and increasingly elaborate division of labor, the scientific collaboration between researchers become very important,Through scientific collaboration, individual author can acquire specific knowledge and skills, and improve their ability to solve scientific research problems. The study of co-authorship network began in the mid-1970 s and has become one of the hot spots in the field of social research. It is helpful to deepen that research of this field by analyzing the co-authorship network of the periphery authors. This paper based on the theory of social capital, taking periphery authors in the field of information science from 1955 to 2017 as the research object, using the social network analysis method, exploring the impact of the periphery authors' network embeddedness on the scientific output. In particular, this paper firstly reviews relevant domestic and overseas literature reviews to determine the research question.Secondly, this paper uses Web of Science as data search platform, retrieving the publication in the core journal "SCIENTOMETRICS" in the field of information science from 1955 to 2017,according to the definition and measurement of "periphery authors" to determine the research object of this paper.Thirdly, this paper uses academic software Endnote X7 to collect the bibliographic information and construct the co-occurrence matrix among scholars. In the end, analyzing the relationship between network embeddedness and research impact by establishing the poisson regression model. The empirical results show that the degree centrality of periphery authors has significant positive influence on the net citation.Knowledge innovation often require using of different skills and knowledge accumulation, and direct collaboration promote knowledge and skill complementarity among individuals; The square of the degree centrality has significant negative influence on the net citation, namely the optimalcooperation size exist in the research collaboration. The benefits of cooperation and network are considered to be multifaceted, the most important are complementary assets and knowledge, but when the cooperation benefits more over the cost,we should maintain a modest cooperation size;the structural holes have significant positive influence on the net citation. When strong embedded relationship exist in the organization,it may increase the amount of transferring resources, facilitating the transfer of tactic knowledge and complex skills and contributing to the promotion of innovation and performance.Different from the existing literature, this paper takes periphery authors as the research object and introduces social capital theory in the analysis of the author's co-authorship.However,there are some limitations in the study, this paper uses co-authored papers as the foundation of cooperation network's construction,it's not necessarily accurate to measure the real relationship among authors, and it doesn't consider the interaction between relational embeddedness and structural embeddedness.
