Polyacrylonitrile(PAN)fibers had been commercially available for decades, most significantly as a precursor of high quality carbon fibers. In recent years, the carbon fiber industry has been growing steadily to meet the demand from different industries such as aerospace(aircraft and space systems),military, turbine blades,construction(non-structural and structural systems),light weight cylinders and pressure vessels, off shore tethers and drilling risers, medical, automobile, sporting goods, etc.,in view of their characteristic properties:high strength properties(stress at break and Young's modulus)and low density.Numerous studies show that the performance of PAN fibers is an important factor in determining the performance of carbon fiber,so how to prepare high-quality performance PAN fiber and then prepare PAN-based carbon fiber has become one of the research highlights. In this paper,we adopt PAN as the polymer matrix, graphene oxide(GO)and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MCNTs)as fillers,by solvent replacement and MCNTs acidification,a MCNTs and GO can achieve good dispersion in the polymer matrix. We prepared the PAN-based composite fibers use the facile spinning device made in our laboratory, and were investigated the effects of the spinning speed, the spinning solution injection volume. Then, different filler effect of MCNTs and GO in the PAN matrix was compared in the terms of the mechanical properties. In addition,we also investigated synergetic effect of MCNTs and GO on the mechanical and thermal properties of PAN.
