Optical invisibility cloak is a new type of artificial metamaterial device based on the theory of transform optics. One can bent the light by designing the electromagnetic parameters and hide the object in the cloak, which is also called transformation medium. The optical invisibility cloaks have broad application prospects in microwave detection, array antennas and military aspects. In this dissertation,we mainly study on the theoretical deduction and calculation for the design of optical cloaks and the propagation properties of light in it.First,we introduce two methods for designing optical cloaks, one is based on refractive index distribution and the other is based on coordinate transformation and for the singularity appearing in the invisibility cloak,we give a method to eliminate it.Furthermore,we proposed a retroreflective type cloak design method base on the exponential mapping. This cloak has a more simple form of electromagnetic tensor and has advantages in a complex environment with obstacles. We discuss the propagation properties of light in flat Euclidean space and curved non-Euclidean space respectively in charpter 5.In curved space,we mainly deduce the dispersion relation and propagation path equation of the light wave, and analyze the relationship between the light wave and the spatial Riemann tensor and the polarization characteristics of the light, and give the ray tracking map.
