With the gradual increase of material performance requirements in modern industry,the corresponding requirements for wear-resistant protective coatings in the mechanical processing industry are also higher and higher.Therefore,it is of great significance to research and develop wear-resistant coatings with excellent comprehensive performance.ZrAlN coating,as a hard coating with excellent performance,can effectively improve the wear resistance of the substrates and prolong its service life by depositing on the surface of the matrix by a certain method.ZrAlN coatings were successfully deposited on 304 stainless steel substrates by multi-arc ion plating.The effects of pulse bias,cathodic arc current and nitrogen flow rate on the surface morphology,coating thickness,microhardness and adhesion of ZrAlN coatings were analyzed by single factor variable method.The optimum preparation process of ZrAlN coatings was obtained.Reciprocating friction and wear experiments were carried out on 304 stainless steel substrates with ZrAlN coatings and non-deposited coatings.The effects of reciprocating friction frequency and normal load on the friction and wear properties were studied by controlling the normal load and reciprocating friction frequency respectively.The main conclusions are as follows:?1?ZrAlN coatings prepared at 150 V pulse bias,90 A cathode arc current and 100SCCM nitrogen flow rate have the best comprehensive properties.At this time,the surface quality of the coatings is better,the hardness of the coatings is up to 1421 HV,the thickness of the coatings is 3.92?m,and the bonding strength of the coatings is 39.7N.The main phase of ZrAlN coating is ZrN phase.Al exists in ZrN lattice in the form of replacement solid solution.?2?When the normal load is 2N,the friction coefficient of ZrAlN coating decreases from 1.0 to 0.6 with the increase of reciprocating friction frequency,the depth of wear marks decreases first and then increases to 2.1?m,and the volume wear rate decreases to 0.99x10-14m3/?N·m?.When the frequency of reciprocating friction is 300 t/m?times/min?,the friction coefficient of ZrAlN coating decreases from 0.8 to 0.6 with the increase of normal load,the depth of wear marks increases to 6.3?m,and the volume wear rate increases to 2.93x10-1414 m3/?N·m?.The effect of normal load on the friction and wear behavior of specimens is more severe than that of friction velocity.?3?Compared with 304 stainless steel substrate,ZrAlN coating has smaller friction coefficient,better friction stability and lower volume wear rate.Deposition of ZrAlN coating can significantly improve the wear resistance of the substrate.The main wear forms of ZrAlN coatings are abrasive wear,oxidation wear and adhesion wear.The coatings have excellent wear resistance under high-speed and low-load friction conditions.
