Research On The Application Of Patchwork Art In Clothing Design

Patchwork is a process of sewing regular or irregular shaped fabrics into square blocks or other units according to the designer’s design intention.Patchwork is a kind of art form,but also a common decorative technique.Due to the cultural differences between China and the west,there are many distinctive works of art in the history of development.As a new method of clothing composition expression,patchwork art can meet people’s requirements for the improvement of existing clothing.Many fashion designers also apply the art of patchwork to the field of fashion design,and use it as design inspiration to different types and styles of clothing,so as to derive unique works.As a form of expression of American culture,jeanswear has become an indispensable part of leisure wear.At present,jeanswear is not only a form of clothing,but also has the characteristics of fashion culture.The patchwork art is applied to the contemporary jeanswear to provide a "new" thinking mode and design method for the development of jeanswear design.On the basis of previous studies,this paper summarizes the development process,artistic value and traditional patchwork clothing of patchwork art.This paper probes into the application of patchwork art in jeans clothing design.There are five chapters in my paper.The first chapter provides a brief introduction on the topic of research,its content and structure and the research achievements.Chapter two to chapter four are the main body of the thesis.First,it traces back the history of patchwork art.It explores the expression forms of patchwork art in different periods and regions,and analyzes its cultural connotation and aesthetic characteristics.Then,it further summarizes the reasons and similarities and differences.Secondly,from the style,color,pattern,craft and other aspects of combing and analysis,summed up the characteristics of modern patchwork art.Then,the characteristics of modern patchwork art extracted from the summary are applied to jeans design to analyze its application performance.Finally,the paper analyzes the expression of the patchwork art in the jeans design,and carries on the application practice through the series of design works.The fifth chapter is the conclusion of the whole article.It discusses the significance of the patchwork form for the jeans clothing design and summarizes the whole paper.
