With the rapid development of contemporary science and technology, energy storage device also makes great progress.Supercapacitor is a kind of energy storage device with high energy density and power density. We choose biomass materials as precursor to prepare activated carbon for supercapacitors because of their accessibility, high safety and simple preparation process.Carbon prepared from cashew nut husk shows a specific surface area of 2742 m2 g-1 and total pore volume of 1.528 cm3 g-1 In the three-electrode system, the sample shows a specific capacitance of 305.2 F g-1 with excellent rate performance(the capacitance remains 256 F g-1 at the current density of 20 A g-1).In the two-electrode test, the energy density of the symmetrical supercapacitor based on CHPC-4 reached 11.2 Whkg-1 at400 W kg-1.We also choose the loofah sponge as precursor to prepare electrodes of supercapacitor and compare the effects of KOH,NaOH,K2CO3 and Na2CO3 during the activation process. Finally, inspired by potassium carbonate particles,we choose potassium carbonate as both template and activation agent to prepare activated carbon by one-step carbonization and activation. The carbon shows a specific capacitance of 375.1 F g-1 at the current density of 1 A g-1(the capacitance remains 284 F g-1 at the current density of 20 A g-1),showing excellent performance of supercapacitor.
