With the rapid development of network communication technology and modern advanced medical technology,remote medicine,as a new diagnostic method,has been rapidly popularized and applied in various medical fields.Due to the limitation of network bandwidth and other factors,the storage and real-time transmission of a large number of medical image information can not well meet the actual needs.Effective compression of medical images is the optimal solution to solve this problem.The main research content of this paper is to use the wavelet transform technology to achieve the data compression of medical images.In order to meet the actual needs of clinicians as the premise,according to the characteristics of the medical image to choose the appropriate compression method,so as to solve the problem of large image storage and insufficient definition in telemedicine.The main contents of this paper include:(1)The research background and significance of the topic are elaborated.This paper briefly describes the research status of wavelet transform image compression algorithm,introduces the concept of medical image,medical image data compression,the necessity of image compression and image compression steps.This paper introduces the classification of image compression coding and the characteristics of several compression methods.(2)The related concepts and basic principles of wavelet transform are introduced,with emphasis on the image compression and coding process of wavelet transform,including the steps of signal decomposition and reconstruction.The quality of the compressed image will be different if different wavelet bases are selected.(3)EZW and SPIHT compression algorithms based on wavelet transform and their improvement.EZW and SPIHT are two main compression methods of wavelet transform.The compression principle,steps and advantages and disadvantages of the two methods are introduced in detail.The two quantization methods improve the coding efficiency,but there are still some shortcomings.In this paper,an improved SPIHT algorithm is proposed to solve the shortcomings of the existing SPIHT algorithm.The experimental results show that the improved SPIHT algorithm can achieve better image reconstruction quality under the same compression ratio as the original SPIHT algorithm.(4)According to the characteristics of medical image compression algorithm and the actual needs of medical images in clinical work,a lossless compression method of medical images in the region of interest based on ROI coding method is proposed.The medical image information of the lesion site required by doctors can be effectively compressed to reduce the amount of irrelevant reading for doctors.(5)In order to verify the effectiveness of the improved algorithm in this paper,the results of transmission rate of original image and compressed image are compared through the actual telemedicine platform.The experimental results show that the improved image compression algorithm in this paper greatly improves the image transmission rate.
