The Collected Works of Yongbei Local Records,compiled by Yang Jingwen and ended in 1925,was compiled for need of Yunnan Local Records.It was consist of map,the meaning of place name,evolution,location,boundary,area,geology,terrain,mountain chain,rivers,lakes,springs,weather,products,population,industry,politic,historic site,local records and so on.It also give an account of the geographical environment,economic conditions,cultural education,local system,national religion,expecially about New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Its material was from field study except the material about evolution,population.In a word,this book is important to the study of social history in Yongbei Area in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.At present,the academic and society are merely focus on this book,only a few books simply introduce its author,forming time,collection information.There is no further research on the basic problems,such as the circulation of the book,the source of data,the value of historical materials.And the book is made up without any collation.Therefore,it is necessary for us to further study and organize the book.This paper analyzes the author,the main content,the book forming and its circulation,the historical material value and the deficiency etc.The main work of the paper is punctuating,collating,annotating and verifying.Through the above work,we have obtained the following new results:On the basis of predecessors' research,further clarified this book' s compiling background and historical sources,also reviews the historical value and the deficiency of the book.Punctuate the book.Collate the book.Base on the hidden manuscripts in Yunnan Library,Yongbeifu Local Records and Yongbei Zhili legacy of the Office,other researches,correct the words' misuse to make it easier to read and use.Annotating the book.Annotated the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches,uncommon words,the officers,the historical allusions,the geographical development.Fill in the relevant information and research the suspected history.
