The Harlem Renaissance took place in the United States in 1920s,marking the first active period of African Americans in the fields of literature, art and music. The movement combines realism, national consciousness and Americanism.African American artists during this period made great efforts to change the image of black people in the old age. When black artists began to strive for social status and cultural independence, their attitude towards themselves changed greatly, forming the unique charm of self-reading,self-respect and national self-confidence.To some extent, the rest of the American society has begun to change their attitudes towards blacks. Therefore, although the Harlem Renaissance is a short-lived movement, its influence on American Art and culture still exists. From a broader perspective,in the context of contemporary globalization, including contemporary China, the relationship between "integration" and "diversification" in cultural bodies is actually faced. The art of the Harlem Renaissance also provides a reference case for the discussion of this issue.First of all,the Harlem Renaissance is comprehensively and stereoscopic in three dimensions:location, communication route and theme.Try to establish a three-dimensional understanding of this movement in order to grasp the essence of black art in this period more clearly and accurately.Secondly, this thesis analyzes the self-racial identity and the re-interpretation and construction of self-racial culture in the Harlem Renaissance. The spiritual essence of racial consciousness is analyzed.Combined with the origin of racial consciousness,it reveals the deeper cultural connotation and social significance of this movement. At last, the performance of the awakening of racial consciousness is analyzed in detail with specific works. From the change of the image position, the change of the theme and the application of the African cultural elements in the Harlem Renaissance, the important influence of the racial awakening on the black art works is confirmed. |
